In the page dedicated to those who are going to attempt to remix the constitution of Italy, I have cited the scandal of 2025 in the matter of the building sector of Milan. It seems to me that local judges are working for removing the scandal itself, and the unwanted consequences of it. For that, I stop talking about corruption and other crimes, and I dedicate a, more general, page to urban planning in Milan, based on data partly objective, and partly reliable. Given that I would like to avoid boredom, I shortly summarize the urbanistic situation of the territory of Milan, as follows: 26 abandoned places with environmental problems (verified by the regional administration of Lombardia); 146 abandoned buildings (the list has been approved by the municipal administration of Milan); 18 former industrial areas dismissed; a pair of dozens of sports facilities, no more utilized and lacking of manutention; 200 illegal social centers, the vast majority belonging to far left; about 4000 apartments, a notable part of local social housing, illegally occupied by squatters; about 2400 other apartments completely not utilized. As you can read, the city of Milan needs a deep, and large urban revitalization, much more than others urbanistic interventions.
What is the city administration of today planning? I refer what is known, thanks to official press. The city of Milan is seeing the construction of a lot of new skyscrapers, that no common inhabitant has ever asked, and some new residential areas have been planned, prevalently destined to public housing. Well, life in Milan is the most expensive all over Italy, far from the possibilities of those who are aspiring to social housing. Moreover, the economic sectors of Milan, due to the huge taxations, are funding a relevant part of the national welfare state. Is it worth to weaken those sectors? Well, I think that it’s totally crazy. Milan doesn’t need to become poorer, on the contrary, a revitalization of the productive tissue appears as absolutely necessary. Evidently, the things that the administration of Milan is doing, especially in the field of urban planning, are opposite. More clearly, precious and irreplaceable resources are on the way to be completely wasted. For now, I omit to talk in detail about the construction of a new soccer stadium in the area named “San Siro”, except for the following, general description: the European Soccer League has established that the old stadium is inadequate; the two soccer teams of Milan have verified that the restructuration of the old stadium would be too much expensive, and have asked to the mayor an area for building a new stadium; the administration of Milan has forced the two teams to buy the old stadium, that, according to national laws, can’t be demolished, and whose accessory surfaces, for now, are not utilizable for new buildings, in change of a sum of about 200 million euro. Have I assisted to a comedy of the absurd? I let my readers give their answers.
