Fashionable nightclubs are places where the jet set might collapse

In the year 1942, in Boston, US, there was the most lethal accident of history occurred to a fashionable nightclub, whose name was Cocoanut Grove. A big fire killed 492 people, and showed how crucial is fire prevention at similar venues, made for hosting various hundred persons. The second most lethal accident at a fashionable nightclub happened on April 8, 2025, around 1 A.M., in Dominican Republic. The name of the venue was Jet Set. It was a former movie theater opened in 1973, and converted into a nightclub in 1994. The roof of the Jet Set was repaired various times, at least three. In the year 2023, the building was struck by lightning, and the subsequent technical intervention was ended with an optimist declaration, that the structure was safe from fire. After having read many articles, I can refer that, according to some rumors, plaster tiles often fell from ceiling, even before the collapse of it. In effect, on the cited day of April, the roof of the Jet Set suddenly collapsed, killing 236 persons, and injuring more than 180 persons. Reliable sources are attributing the cause of the collapse to the excessive weight on the roof itself, more precisely to having added air conditioned, and a quantity of material for avoiding rain infiltrations. Well, I think that my humble voice has something more to say about the Jet Set, not belonging to strictly journalistic content.

On the night of the tragedy, the attendance was of some hundreds, because there was a live concert of a popular merengue artist, Mr. Rubby PĂ©rez. The capacity of the nightclub is uncertain and controversial: some sources say 500 people, other sources say 1000 people standing and 700 seated. Among the victims, there were half a dozen of true members of the jet set. I have some observation to propose, either about the static nature of properties, even referred to the Jet Set nightclub, or about the jet set, who uses to go to nightclubs like the namesake one. Engineering calculations consent to determinate the maximum load capacity of a floor slab, but there are variable factors, such as materials, and the majority of engineers is avoiding those complex calculations, that are substituted with visual inspection, and the utilization of common tables. It means that random factors, like previous manutention interventions, are often not considered, even if potentially relevant. Thus, the first conclusion is that the accident to the Jet Set nightclub was not provoked by a sort of “underdevelopment” of the Dominican Republic, and that, on the contrary, the same might happen everywhere around the world. Coming to the jet set who populates nightclubs, I can say that fame is not immortal, and that there are activities mandatory for celebrities, necessary to maintain, or consolidate, fame itself. Social activities, like frequenting nightclubs, are included into the cited activities. The second conclusion is that, obviously, nightclubs are places much more dangerous than private homes, although there are lots of people disposable to face the risks. An application of the concept is expressed in the title of the page.

Coming to the music of the page, I’ve recorded a mix at rhythms faster than 200 BPM, approximately until 265 BPM. The rhythms have been chosen because highly illusive. In effect, no dancer can dance faster than the maximum threshold of heartbeats. In reality, human psyche is forced by natural mechanisms to consider a rhythm at 200 BPM equal to a rhythm at 100 BPM, because of unconscious warning signals. The message is that humans can’t fruitfully do anything else than knowing at the possible best, and accepting, their intrinsic limitations.

File name is “illusive rhythms faster than 200 BPM, by Max Look DJ (end of Nov 2025)”, about 1 hour and 23’ of pop and rock at rhythms faster than 200 BPM.
