Suicide, a fruit of mental disorders or something else?

Suicide is a topic very well studied, and classified as the major concern for mental health by the WHO. The WHO is constantly collecting the data from 140 countries, even if only 80 countries are considered as sources of high-quality data. The cited scarce quality of data depends on the fact that suicide is illegal in 20 countries, and that the kind of behavior suffers from a notable religious stigma in many more countries. Together with self-harm, the will of self-killing is a demonstration of the complexity of human brain, because inside human brain there evidently is room for something different from survival instinct, and from natural archetypes that enforce the principle of the conservation of species, typical of animal and of vegetal reigns. The non-typical fact is the absence in humans of a consciousness of being part of a unique group of individuals, with clear collective purposes, assigned by Mother Nature. With other words, many humans believe that their own lives belong exclusively to themselves. For instance, there are feminist movements stubbornly convinced of the personal right to a complete self-determination of women, not only in the matter of reproductive choices, but also of any other life choice, not directly bound to sexuality. Another example, a small, fashionable Italian political party, named “Partito Radicale”, since various decades, is fighting for the legalization of euthanasia, when coming from the free choice of an individual. The main slogan, as translated into English by me, sounds like “your life belongs only to you, and you should be allowed to decide anything about it”. More generally, leftist parties are adopting a dual strategy in the field of personal freedom and civil rights, consisting, by one side, of an affirmation of complete freedom for individuals related to anything extraneous to economy, and, to the other side, of the denial of the existence of individual freedom related to economy. In summary, various billion persons believe that personal life is the only property recognizable to individuals, while material and immaterial goods can be owned by individuals only temporarily, with a previous consent of the state administration, subject to be revoked for collective interests.

Can you define “mental disorder” the political convictions of various billion persons? The question, of course, can’t have a proper answer. However, a large part of mankind rejects the idea that personal life has a content chiefly responding to collective interests. Logically, if my own life would be my unique property, I should be free of doing anything I want with it. The described situation, it’s a, hardly deniable, confirmation of the peculiarity of the human species, above described. While the WHO, strangely, is keeping together suicide and mental disorders, the global statistics about suicide are demonstrating something relevantly different. Those statistics are easily accessible, and I don’t want to annoy my readers, so I only cite the data useful to clarify my thoughts. There are more than 700.000 suicides per year, and a small part of the dead have been effectively diagnosed with mental disorders. Many suicides happen among the minorities loved by politically correct parties, such as refugees, migrants, prisoners, indigenous people, and members of the LGBT communities. One of the most frequent reasons for suicides is the economic situation, personal or familiar. Well, there’s only a thing that can unify all the statistics in the matter of suicide, the, above cited, absence of a consciousness of being part of a unique group of individuals, with clear collective purposes, assigned by Mother Nature. In conclusion, while only a part of the dead from suicide suffered from mental disorders, all of the dead from suicide didn’t believe in the sacredness of human life, and that each individual chiefly belongs to others of the same species. Personally, I don’t feel like I entirely belong to me. Understandingly, the mix of the page is not suggested to those who are thinking about suicide, because it is made of beautiful songs talking about suicide, although without any consolatory intention.

File name is “dance and chant with the idea of suicide, by Max Look DJ (Halloween 2024)”, 1 hour and 24’ of rock music dedicated to suicide. Apart from the absence of scratching and the usage of sampler, the mix lightly recalls the style of DJ Spinbad, R.I.P., to the memory of whom I dedicate it.
