Deaths related to jungle, either lands or music

Human life is something inestimably precious, most of all because of its incredible rarity all-over the known universe. Despite, mankind shows a scarce respect towards the greatest gift received from Mother Nature. Moreover, human life is notably fragile, and the causes of death are innumerable. As you can imagine by reading the title, the page is about deaths related to jungle, intended as peculiar territories, and as a peculiar musical genre named jungle music. Of course, I can’t offer much more than some curiosities, perhaps unknown, partly or totally, to public opinions. As usual, the curiosities come from a series of web searches, and from a series of web pages.

Talking about jungle lands, I can underline some facts, not always easy to explain. Each year, 1,5 million persons are globally killed by animals, mostly mosquitos and snakes, but even 40000 persons are killed by dogs.  Across the tropics, there are 28000 heat-related deaths per year, whose majority is bound to deforestation. About 100 countries are committed to halt deforestation, that recites an undeniable role in the matter of climate changes. The Brazilian Amazon is the deadliest forest in the world, where 8000 persons died in the year 2022. Surprisingly, a pair of hundreds of environmental defenders have been killed from 2012 to 2022. Another surprise, a pair of hundreds of persons die annually on the territories of national parks services. Global natural disasters have been especially lethal approximately from 1920 to 1970, and haven’t represented a special cause of death from 1971 to now. For your information, the two principal causes of death of mankind are heart disease (#1), and cancer (#2). Nevertheless, as you can read above, jungle lands are notably harmful, and lethal for various thousand times per year.

Jungle music is a sub-genre of EDM, born in the UK in the early 90’s. It’s a kind of music produced by DJs, based on complex rhythms, typically from 150 to 180 BPM, and on a large variety of samples, originally taken from reggae and its variations, successively from many musical genres. Starting from late 90’s, jungle music has been spread in other countries, and its name has often changed into “drum ‘n’ bass”. However, it’s mostly destined to raves and festivals, and the aficionados are called “junglists”. The recognized capitals of jungle music/drum ‘n’ bass are London and Bristol, UK. Honestly, I had wrong ideas about the number of deaths related to jungle music. In reality, the consumption of recreative drugs among junglists is not as high as you can imagine. Well, jungle music kills 1-2 persons per year, all-over the countries where it’s appreciated. More than that, among jungle music producers, DJs and MCs, there’s not a high level of mortality. I can cite three dead artists: DJ Tango, alias Jamie Giltrap, dead on January 31, 2018, at 46; MC Skibadee, alias Alphonso Bondzie, dead on February 27, 2022, at 47; and DJ Randall, alias Randall McNeir, dead on July 31, 2024, at 54. After having remembered that HIV/AIDS kills about 1000 New-Yorkers per year, you might observe that jungle music is almost harmless. Strange, but true.
