Equality between females and males is a milestone of political correctness. Ok, why? Because the subsequent equal rights inevitably cause a social conflict, and, according to many thinkers, contribute to reinforce Marxian theories. With other words, female gender is exploited as a mean for the accreditation of Communism as the unique valid regulator of societies, while any improvement of life conditions of women is not required. Secondarily, there’s an identification between paternalism and ancient regimes, that should be defeated and substituted. There are many reasons why I can’t agree that Communism is the unique valid regulator of societies, and the first is that, for what I’ve seen, social conflicts are the main fuel of human relationships, and not something to eliminate. Other observations can be proposed about the topic of equality between females and males. Ancient China was a matriarchy. The birth of the earliest, written laws coincided with a substantial progress of the civilization, and with a gradual deletion of the matriarchy itself. In various ancient cultures and religions, there was an equality of genders, intended as absence of discrimination of females, as testified by some mythological characters, such as Lilith, the Babylonian demoness. I let historians and intellectuals deepen the topic of the above, and I summarize that I haven’t noticed a big discrimination of females in the field of demonism. Moreover, and that is the topic of the page, there’s a tendential equality between genders in the matter of vampires, to be verified. More clearly, there are different traditions regarding the earliest vampire: according to some legends, it was a male character; other legends, on the contrary, are based on a female character. Which is the gender more suitable to vampires? Is there an equality of genders? Well, the page is written as it was a brief chronicle of a contest between the two genders about the darkest night, the one populated by the earliest vampire.
Of course, my description of the cited contest is only a little bit longer than a mere list, because I don’t want to prolong the page, and I want my readers to freely deepen what can raise their interest, or curiosity. Here a short index of the main traditions about the earliest vampire, in a chronological order.
Vlad the Impaler (1448-1476/77) – he was the Voivode of Wallachia, that today is part of Romania, whose legend has been greatly appreciated and utilized by Bram Stoker. Naples, Italy, is claiming that Vlad the Impaler is buried at the complex of Santa Maria La Nuova, because Neapolitans want their city to be recognized as the final destination of the famed monster known as Dracula.
Elizabeth Bathory (1560-1614) – she was a Hungarian noblewoman, known for having killed hundreds female virgins, in order to drink their blood, as a therapy for epilepsy and strong headaches. Despite of some crazy attempts of moral rehabilitation, Bathory has been frequently present into heavy metal songs.
Jure Grando Alilovic (1579-1656) – a Croatian, common man, a real person described as a vampire. The theory meets a notable appreciation in north-eastern Italy.
Unnamed, Abkhazian witches, who drank human blood, and with terrible super-powers, fighting among themselves in a small village in Circassia (territory of Russia), on April 2, 1666 – an accurate tale of the fight is contained in the book “Seyâhatnâme” by Evliya Çelebi, a Turkish traveller.
Petar Blagojevic, from Kisiljevo, Serbia – a dead man who, since the year 1725, reportedly wakes up at night, and gets out of his tomb. It seems that his activities are the same of other vampires.
It’s time to say who has won the darkest night contest. According to the results of my queries, male gender is prevailing in the matter of the legends of vampires, even if the prevalence is not large. The conclusion is that females have not yet conquered a complete equality between monstrous blood-drinkers. Is there something that can be done? If you want, think about your favorite answer. In quality of web DJ, I’ve recorded a mix of funky classics, as for a soundtrack of the darkest nights at discos. The mix is dedicated to a feeling of loving equality between genders, monsters included.
