Since the 30’s, soccer became the national sport in Brazil, in quality of an effective unifying factor of a country with many racial problems, provoked by a difficult convivence of 3-4 different ethnics. Due to soccer, music, and culture, Afro-Brazilians have gradually conquered equal dignity and equal rights. The conquest is rather recent, more or less of the 2000’s. Politically speaking, despite of the best racial integration in the world, Brazil is a country without equilibrium and moderation, given that there’s an alternation between far left and far right. The actual government is communist, even if the constitutional system vaguely resembles to a democracy. The excellence of Brazilian soccer provoked the assignment to Brazil of the 1950 world cup. The popular expectations were huge, and almost each Brazilian fan was sure to win the title. Expressly for the final match of the world cup, it was built the largest stadium all over the world, named Maracanã, with a planned capability of 200.000 spectators. In reality, the Maracanã was inaugurated and utilized before its completion, that dates back to 1965. Brazil gained the right to play the final match, and the opponent was Uruguay, a fierce and well-known rival. The cited match was nicknamed Maracanaço, a public event to be hosted at the Maracanã stadium, on July 16, 1950. Many Brazilians fell into the big mistake of a premature celebration of the victory of their national team. Officially, the attendance at the match between Brazil and Uruguay was approximately of 170.000 persons, but some sources affirm that there were more than 200.000 persons. None in Brazil was suspecting a negative result of the match. Nevertheless, Uruguay won 2-1. Legends and unofficial sources have affirmed that the shock of the above was bound to a mass suicide, of about 200.000 persons. Official sources have confirmed that there were 4 dead, 1 from suicide, and 3 from sudden heart attack. I don’t know which was the factual truth, however I want to express my opinion in the matter of a suicide induced by the result of a soccer match. I’m going to talk about today, not about the 50’s, and my observations are related to the soccer that I know best, the European one.
In my opinion, competitive spirit can potentially rise strong emotions, but not always. I appreciate sport events when fair play, loyalty, genuine and sincere commitment, full observance of any kind of rules, positive moral values, elegance in gestures and behaviors are all present and evident. Alas, the devil, who rules the entire world, doesn’t want that. In effect, since the 60’s, European soccer has started to experience the presence of non-loyal executives in teams, whose activity consists of winning titles at whatever cost, Anglo-Saxons would say “winning ugly”. More precisely, they try to obtain favorable decisions from referees, such as inexistent penalties and validation of irregular goals, and from soccer leagues, such as the desired calendar of a championship, disciplinary sanctions to the strongest players of the opponent teams, and inobservance of fundamental rules for their teams. The pioneer of the described non-loyal executives was an Italian, born near my hometown, Mr. Italo Allodi, who worked for Inter F.C. Milan. New improper functions have successively emerged, such as undeserved help from press and mass media, immunity from anti-doping controls, and true lobbing towards governments and international organizations, even not strictly belonging to the world of professional soccer. That has been happening more and more intensely, in parallelism with the growth of the show business of soccer. Today, European soccer resembles to the most popular professional sports in the USA, although without the same regulations. For instance, while in the USA everyone knows and accept that without financial fair play there can’t be any sport spectacle, the final match of the European championship 2025 has been between Inter F.C. Milan and P.S.G. Paris, two teams that, since various years, don’t respect financial fair play, by utilizing tricks, stratagems, and false documents. Paradoxically, the heir of Mr. Allodi of today has been awarded by the President of the Republic, while an analogue executive, Mr. Luciano Moggi, who committed much less irregularities for Juventus F.C. Turin, has been expelled from the Italian soccer league, for the entire lifetime. Forgive me, I don’t want to find me a lot of enemies, and thus I omit many more facts, and many more details.
In conclusion, the professional soccer of today in Europe is something rather obnoxious, that can’t give me positive emotions. If the situation is wanted, perhaps the indirect purpose is avoiding any suicide bound to a soccer game. Well, according to my hopes, not all the evil comes to do bad to you. The short medley of the page is dedicated to soccer in Brazil, as a national passion that needs to be diluted, with fake Brazilian tunes.
File name “Jorge Ben & Fake Brazilian All Stars Vs Max Look DJ – a dilution of Brazilian spirit in soccer (end of May 2025)”, it’s a short medley of 14’ at 125 BMP, based on a sample of Jorge Ben – ponta de lança Africano (Umbabarauma), a classic of soccer music of the year 1976, diluted into a mix of fake Brazilian tunes, by Don Carlos, Federico Scavo, Costantino Mixmaster Padovano, the Heartist, Fragmentorchestra, and Spiller.
